Q&A

ABA has a very broad product line, primarily focusing on high-strength industrial security and commercial locks:

  • Tubular Locks: This is their core product.
  • Cam Locks: Widely used in lockers, vending machines, and toolboxes.
  • Padlocks: High-security padlocks in various sizes.
  • Computer/Laptop Locks: OEM security locks for globally renowned computer brands.
  • Furniture Locks: Desk drawer locks and cabinet locks.
  • Specialty Application Locks: Such as vending machine locks, parking lot payment machine locks, elevator switch locks, etc.

ABA's tubular locks are considered the industry benchmark, with the main differences lying in their precision and resistance to damage:

  • Patented "Pagoda" Structure: Traditional tubular locks (such as the common 7-pin lock) are easily cracked by specialized lock-picking tools, but ABA's Pagoda structure uses a unique stepped arrangement, significantly improving its anti-pry capability.
  • Extremely High Interlocking Rate Control: Many inexpensive locks are prone to "one key opening multiple locks," but ABA's molds are extremely precise, providing tens of thousands, even millions, of unique key changes.
  • Material Durability: They often use brass, steel, or zinc alloys, and undergo sandblasting or electroplating treatments, resulting in strong corrosion resistance and shear resistance.

ABA holds numerous world-class patents, the most famous of which include:

  • Pagoda Lock Cylinder: This is ABA's signature design. The key's appearance resembles a small shovel with many grooves, and the internal lock ball has a unique travel, providing excellent anti-picking protection.
  • 1014 Series (Dimple Key): Combines flat drilling with a specially angled lock ball design.
  • Built-in Light Key Patent: Early developments included key structures with integrated LED lights.
  • Drill-proof Lock Cylinder Design: A hardened steel plate or drill-proof ball bearings are added to the front of the lock cylinder to prevent malicious drilling damage.

Due to their high security characteristics, ABA locks are typically found in commercial or industrial environments with high security requirements:

  • Retail and Automation Equipment: Vending machines, ATMs, arcade games, coin-operated washing machines.
  • IT Equipment: Server racks, laptop security locks.
  • Public Facilities: Mailboxes, lockers, street light distribution boxes.
  • Transportation and Logistics: Truck door locks, bicycle locks, trailer locks.

If you purchased a product with an ABA lock cylinder and have lost the key, the solution depends on whether you retained the key code:

  • Having the key code:
ABA keys usually have a code engraved on them. If you have this code, you can contact the ABA manufacturer or an authorized dealer directly to have a new key made.
  • Not retaining the key code but the lock is still open:
Some locks may have a code marked on the side or bottom; you can use this code to contact the manufacturer.
  • Lock is locked and no key code:
    • Professional locksmith: Find a locksmith experienced with tubular or pagoda locks. Due to the high security level of ABA lock cylinders, ordinary locksmiths may not be able to open them, often requiring destructive unlocking.
    • Contact the original equipment manufacturer: If you purchased a laptop lock or a specific safe, contact the brand's customer service; they usually have backup solutions.

Recommendation: After purchasing ABA products, be sure to take a photo of the key number and store it in the cloud as soon as possible. This is the only way to make a copy of the key without damage if it is lost.
